When Flying Was Not an Option A Family Found a Safe Way Home

When an 86-year-old man could not safely fly, his family needed another way to complete a difficult interstate journey. They were traveling through New Mexico and contacted Chisholm Trail Transportation to ask whether we could meet them in Oklahoma City or Amarillo and continue the trip to North Georgia.
We arranged to meet the family in Amarillo. From the first telephone call through the final handoff, our office coordinated the meeting point, timing, passenger needs and progress updates with the family.
Choosing the Right Seating for a Long Journey
Because comfort and positioning were important, we recommended a Broda chair. Unlike a standard wheelchair, a Broda chair can be adjusted into several positions during a long trip. Its tilt and recline settings allowed the passenger to rest and sleep while remaining supported in a secure, cradle-like position. The family agreed that it was the right choice for the journey.
A Two Person Long Distance Crew
CTT assigned Martin and Brittany, our experienced long-distance team. A two-person crew allowed the drivers to share the driving and provide attentive assistance throughout the trip. The family received updates as the trip progressed, and the passenger was transported from Amarillo to his destination in North Georgia with a direct handoff.

Chisholm Trail Transportation provides premium door-through-door transportation for older adults and mobility-limited passengers traveling into or out of North Texas. We help families when a loved one cannot safely fly, needs wheelchair or Broda-chair positioning, is relocating to a new home or care community, or needs a carefully coordinated hospital or facility transfer.
Long-distance trips are planned individually. Depending on the passenger’s needs and the distance involved, service may include a two-person crew, family communication during the trip, specialized seating and direct coordination with the receiving residence, hospital or care facility.
